OAKBORO -- Funeral services were held
Saturday morning for a man fatally
shot by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer.
Wayne Furr, 41, a father of two from
Oakboro, was working at an east Charlotte cell phone
tower early Thursday morning when police arrived in
response to a call about a suspicious vehicle. Police
say Furr pulled out a gun and pointed it at an officer.
The officer says he warned Furr several
times to put down the gun and he did not comply. The
officer then shot and killed him.
The services were held at Oakboro First
Baptist Church.
