The two were demonstrating how to set up a temporary transmission tower when it suddenly toppled.

Mike Merchant and David Desjarlais fell 60 feet to the ground. 

Desjarlais, from Manitoba, Canada, died at the scene.

The demonstration involving a tower used to restore electric service in an emergency was part of an international power industry conference hosted by PNM.   

An investigation into what caused the accident continues.
