One man is dead following a horrifying accident involving a radio tower in Saint Mary Parish.
The
Saint Mary Sheriff's Office tells TV 10 that a 29-year-old man from
Texas slipped and fell off the radio tower right outside of Centerville
Friday afternoon.
He and three other Texas men were putting an extension on the tower, which stands at least 485 feet tall.
There
was a slight rainfall at the time and the man reportedly lost his
balance, plunging more than 400 feet to his death. Its possible
rain may have been one factor in this man's terrible fall.
Some
of the workers say they believe the man thought he had his safety belt
clip locked. Unfortunately, the man was not able to stand and he
fell.
The company who works on the tower is based out of Texas.
