Worker hospitalized after fall from tower

COLLEGEPORT - Jonathan Green, 20, was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston on Thursday night after falling off a communications tower in the Tin Top area, said Sgt. Mitch Irwin, an investigator with the Matagorda County Sheriff's Office.

"He was approximately 25 feet in the air standing on the platform. He was working on a cable and the cable came loose and knocked him off the platform," Irwin said.

Irwin didn't know if Green sustained any injuries, only that he was responsive when the medics transported him to the hospital.

It happened at the intersection of Farm-to-Market roads 521 and 1095 near El Maton.

The police report didn't mention the name of the company that Green works for or why he was on the platform, Irwin said.
